why does Helium make my voice higher ?

Although it's often said that sound travels faster through denser materials, this is not true. The speed of sound increases with the stiffness of a medium and decreases with its density (it's actually the square root of the stiffness divided by the density)

The reason sound travels faster through water then through air is because water is so much less compressible  (stiffer) than air that it more than compensates for the increase in density. Helium and air are both gases with very similar compressibility so the much lower density of helium causes sound waves to propagate 2.7 times faster.

Your voice doesn't actually change pitch with a lungful of helium: your vocal chords still vibrate at the same frequency. Rather, what changes is the natural frequency of your throat, so it resonates more strongly with the higher harmonics that the lower ones. The low frequency component of your voice is still there, but it is much quieter than the higher frequency component. The relative strength of these harmonics is called the 'timbre' and it is this that changes when you breathe helium. This is why you sound more like Donald Duck than Mickey Mouse. :)

salam kemerdekaan~~ wlupun sy terlewat. hahahaha. hye kwn2. nda lama lagi mau raya. and, lama jgk la sy tidak menyumbangkan isi karya minda di sini. so sorry aaar. busy bha diz lately nie. hehehehe. now pun tgah busy tapi ok la. sy sebenarnya baru sihat sikit dari sakit. hehehe. sakit sikit ja. tapi kena la jugak. kena marah oleh adik kecik sy yg jauh di Pasir Puteh Kelantan. well, deserve la kan. selalu advice dia jaga kesihatan now sy yg kena nasihat. hahahahaha. and diz week i got plenty of time to sleep~!! happy bha sy. di kolej mana da sleep macam di rmh. kadang2 nda tdur pun. mesti wonder ni kan apa yg sy buat. hahahahaha. hal wanita la syg later i bgitau. hahahahahah~


semalam sy dgn umiey, adn pak cik sy otw mau buat dodol. then dalam masa mau perah air santan tu. know what happen? isi kelapa tu jatuh berkecai di lantai. hahahaha. maybe im too tired till tangan bergegar terus jatuh. tidaklah!! termiss bha tu. ingatkan masuk dkt talam sudah tapi, alih2 terjun pegi lantai. ganjil owh isi kelapa nie. *cubit cubit* mau tgok gmbar? sempat captured satu ja la. coz malu la mau ambik banyak2. asalnya mau ambik banyak2 tapi my uncle n cousin i jeling2 manja ja. so i captured satu gmbar ja la.

ini la santan yg jatuh tu.

erm.. actually sekarang tgh mengelegak santan2 tu dkt periuk. punya main byk dodol tu. nnti bila sudah siap i upload gambar ok!

lagi satu, even diz week i got plenty of time but, many things happen jgk. nda mau ceritala. privacy still privacy. nnti cerita nda sdh jadi privacy kan. so, klu mau tau kenali la sy.
